Stainless, 1 1/4" 28" long with a bore drilled to 20". I plan on powder coating the barrel. The wheels are 36" omish made wagon wheels. It is not period correct just something to play with.......

They are drilled and screwed in.

Are they also loctited or otherwise glued in?  You don't want them to come loose when the gun is fired.

And they will!

Nice job, did you make the wheels. That is hang-up Nitrosteel and I are having. He had the barrel made and I came up with all the oak for the carriage but neither of us has access to a good wood shop. ;D

Wooden wheels come up frequently on Ebay. Problem is, the nicely made ones I've seen usually sell for high $$$. At times I've been tempted to bid on old flat-belt iron pulleys there. Sometimes they go for cheap.

Might want to see what Dom Carpenter can make for you out of steel.

There is a dealer in Meridian Tx close to me that sells the wheels like mine (close) and she only charges $75.00 per wheel for 36" The smaller ones are more reasonable........Yes the trunnions are glued too. I am thinking of Confederate grey with black trim, any suggestions out there on where to get good pics?......

Centermass,   Texas is Condererate territory, so why don't you use an authentic paint scheme for your good looking cannon.  This happens to be exactly what the Federal artillerists had to use, Olive Drab wood with gloss black iron.  You should look at Marshall Steen's site at this link:    http://www.steencannons.com/           He has pictures of authentic paint on both Union and Confederate guns.  He is an expert on paint too and certainly would never use incorrect colors.

Good luck!
