Win. 94 AE peep sight options?
« on: May 17, 2011, 11:01:50 AM »
Hey guys,

I want to put a peep sight on my Win. 94 AE. I know there's an XS sight, but I assume that's more of a close range option - I want to be able to use this rifle to 100, 150 yards. So, I reckon I'll end up with the Williams sight instead, or maybe a scope eventually - but I'd like to try the peep sight first.

My question is: Which Williams sight is better? And can I find one for sale at Brownells or some such mail-order place as a package, including a fiber optic front sight? I would like to have a fiber optic sight for bear hunting close to dark...
My avatar is pretty much what I look like out in the woods - except I am not a "chick" in any sense of the word.

Brownells,

Sells the Williams Foolproof rear peep sight with a Williams Fire Sight front/ramp as a kit for the Model 94 Winchester.  Two different sets one for the top eject and one for the angle eject model 94s.

I have a Williams with a large twilight aperture on my '94, and a Firesight front sight.  The firesight really shows up which my old eyes need, but I think it really looks out of place on a '94.  As does the receiver sight.   :-\

It works fine for me where the longest shot from my main stand is 50 yards.

I have, hi-ebber, and day aways be a hi-ebber, taken it off and will replace it with a similar Lyman sight.   I would get the model with the windage/elevation knobs though.  Those screws are a pain!   ::)

This is the Williams #70103 FP-94SE SET, including a FoolProof peep sight & FO front FireSight of proper height - but NOT a rear barrel sight slot filler blank, which has to be either bought separately or made from the front end of an old longleaf rear sight's male dovetail.

I like the willaims sight. I like it better then a brockman or ao or any of the other peeps. Only one i kind of like better is the lyman but it has to be the old steel one. The new plastic ones are junk. I disagree with a firesight recomendation though. I had a set on my 444 that lasted maybe two months before it broke. Ive also broke other fiber optic sights. there way to fragile for a hunting rifle. Give me a good black post blade. Ive got one on a 4570 that dave clements made me. It has a trinium bar verticly imbedded into a post blade. Now its the cats but for low light but it was expensive.

by the way when you buy the williams step up to the fully ajustable model. the cheaper one is a pain in the but unless your going to sight in and stick with the same load forever
