Am Greatly Saddened To Say OSO45-70 Has Passed Away
« on: March 18, 2007, 04:50:33 PM »
It is with a heavy heart that I post that Joe (oso45-70) Bice has passed away.
I had know Joe for just a few short years and corresponded with him regularly through e-mail & even phone calls just like a lot of you had. He was like a 2nd Father along with being a great friend.

Joe was like a true pioneer in every sense of the word. I believe that he grew up in the rough country south of Gallup, NM and seem to recall that he said he was six or seven before he even saw his first automobile!

It was here that he learned to love the predator calling but didn’t own one and became quite proficient at calling in a Coyote or fox with by imitating an injured rabbit with his mouth alone!. I had heard him do this in a phone conversation, he sounded real beyond belief. Joe did eventually use mouth calls and even a foxpro and was a true master of this sport.

He had many good years trapping & hunting in the northern NM mountain ranges with many an authentic tale that would rival the Mountain Man!
Joe also became an accomplished pipefitter and got to do some traveling around the states and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a (do as you say, say as you do) type of person and I will miss him greatly.

If you knew Joe like I did and would like to send a card for the family the address is…

Man, that's a tough one...What can you say? Nothing ... No words can be right when someone dies. I met Joe only once, he came over to my Motel in Carrizozo, a great guy. We talked about predator hunting for a bit and him and his wife went on there way...........Well we all got to go on our way someday. All I can really say is God be with you Joe, and I'm sure God is.....To his wife, what words can I use.........Maybe be strong like Joe would want to be and God be with you. Sad day.

Gentlemen,

I just want to thank all of you for all your prayers and thoughts at this time.  Joe loved this forum and i appreciate all of you for making it such a good one for him.  He so enjoyed Gray Beard Outdoors and if i ever missed him i knew where i would find him, in front of the computer on GrayBeard talking to all of you.  It is a hard time for me right now but with his help i know that i will make it.
Again thank you for all your prayers and thoughts.

Mrs. Bice,

I lost my father in early December and I miss him terribly at times. I know he is in a much better place and it helps to think of him in that way. I remember him as an honest, hard working businessman and father that left many caring friends and family members behind. I had many wonderful talks with him in the last weeks of his life that will stay with me forever.

I did not know Joe personally but I felt I knew what kind of man he was by the way he posted his opinions and advice here at GBO. He seemed to be a caring individual who certainly had the knowledge and background to be an outstanding, contributing GBO member and moderator. I was certain of my impressions and after glanceblamm posted his picture, I knew I was right. Please take care of yourself and learn to enjoy your memories of your Joe.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Joe will be in my prayers, and I'm sure he's going to the "happy hunting grounds".
