With the old eyes not being what they use to be, does any one know where I can find a traditional type scope for my hawken. Thanks in advance

Dixie has brass tube telescopic sights. These are 4 power, very old time looking. The 32 and 1/2 inch scope is $225. The 18 and 1/2 inch scope is $200. Each mount requires two blind 6x48 standard American holes to be drilled and tapped into the flat of the barrel, so that would make 4 holes total. Page 232 of current catalog.
They look great, whether they are any good I don't know. You know Dixie sells everything, they sell all the best stuff, and some of the mediocre stuff as well.

First of all I don't think that there is a scope that would look right on a Hawkin rifle. I thought about it when my eyes seemed to go south on me but just decided to purchase a new inline ML instead. The Ideal scope though for a Hawkin type rifle is a handgun scope mounted down the barrel and away from the lock. That way you do not have to worry about powder residue harming the scope or the side lock becoming a problem.
