I would wonder about the durability of a $400 scope that looks like that.  Especially with hot 45-70 rounds.  Also the eye relief.  The external adjustments should give you plenty of "up" though!

Winchester Sutler used to list a BC mounted traditional scope which is listed in the FAQs,  but their scope page is down now. I contacted them a couple years ago but I wasn't impressed due to their extremely slow response and lack of info when I finally did contact them.

If you're concerned about quality, check these out at MVA, only a thou+ ....and still not much eye relief.

With such a specialized product I'm sure they have to charge a lot.

Tim has a good link for the scope mounts. Actually as the scopes go they are available in both 3 power and 6 power. it does require a scope mount for use on the rear of the receiver and then the dovetail on the front. For the price I sure dont mind it!

Buffalo Arms is a great company to deal with and a source for these period style scopes.http://www.buffaloarms.com They have shipped many products to me here in Australia. The Leatherwood pictured has very average/ordinary rear mounts, they do make a better mount [competition?] which is available. If you dig around you will find some info on Mike Venturinos reviews of the Leatherwood. I believe they ain`t too bad for their price. The MVA are held in very high regard. RHO have their likers and dislikers and if you can find a "Parsons" Grab it, before I do!
