Latest coyote hunts
« on: May 23, 2009, 06:45:27 AM »
Went out twice last week and ended up getting three yotes total. One got up and got in the brush so we did not recover him. All total we saw 17 coyotes in two days of hunting...usually they were way out (500+ yrds) and running away as we were driving.

I use the Fox Pro OCC call and it seems to always bring in a dog or two.

Take care,Stan

;) Nice  work,  we have been traveling and visiting, saw coyotes killed on the  roads all over the country. Now I am home and will divide my time between coyotes, spring bear, gr. squirrel, and when the creeks clear some trout fishing. 8)

:) This morning I took a little hunt for coyotes looking for a free meal in the form of antelope fawns. Saw two, but one must have recognized my old truck cuz he was leaving the country at high speed when I was still a long distance away, >:( :( I spent some time looking over a new ranch I can hunt for coyotes, as I was returning on an old two track, I spotted a dog in the bottom of a small wash. He stood in the sage hoping I didn't spot him I guess.  :-[ I got the .25-06 on his chest and squeezed one off. He did a spin, and took off down the wash.  :-[ :-\ I had a pretty good hold, and was surprised when he didn't drop. :o I drove down and decided to have a look arond. My golden picked up the scent, and we moved up the draw. She stopped and was smelling something, but acted strange, When I got there, the coyote was down, but not dead. I gave him a 125 grain Rem. from the S & W 38 . He went to the big pasture in the sky. I either pulled my shot, or he was quartered away when I shot. The 75 grain Vmax hit too far back, but didn't exit that I could see. I suppose he was about 250 yards at the shot. These little animals really amaze me. They are TOUGH< TOUGH :o Anyway there will be a few more antelpe fawns around this fall, with this fellow out of the picture. ;) :D

Good work!

I'm heading out to do some yote hunting myself tomorrow.  If I get anything I will take some pics and share with you guys.

;) I was back out this am. Saw a total of 5 coyotes, missed one good shot, and killed a big dog that had his eye on a heard of antelope. That is where we find them most at this time of year. The .25-06 and a 75 grain Vmax did the trick. Maybe we will have good luck tomorrow. ;) Must learn how to post some photos.

Well I'm updating my previous post to let you guys know I got one this morning at 15 yards.

I will try to start a "new" thread instead of posting on this one.
Thanks though!! ;) ;)
