I've been a member for some time now, but didn't get online very often, I think this new laptop will change that.  I enjoy hunting and fishing, although I do more target shooting with my reloads that I'm always trying to improve.  I love these forums and many thanks to GB, MrsGB, and all the mods for all the fine work they do.

Hey Kris, I've got a good friend that lives on Lake Wylie, that's a gorgeous neck of the woods, I live about an hour and a half southwest of there in the upper part of Laurens county, between the lower tips of Greenville and Spartanburg counties.  My mailing address is Woodruff, but I'm just as close to Gray Court. Very rural where I live, no complaints.  Where did you move to?

I moved to a small town named Barnesville in Minnesota, a looooong ways from home, population in this town is about 1500 people.  Nice small town life considering where I'm from and I used to work in Charlotte NC, I've been in nieborhoods with more people.  I seen you like to go to the range and shoot, what range do you go to?  I used to go to the public range down on the other side of Sharon, I think it Sumter National Forest or Woodsferry, it was called alot of different names.  I to enjoyed going going and shooting my reloads too, haven't got to go since I moved here but I found a range nearby that you can shoot out to 500 yards, so hopefully soon I'll get to try it out.

I've heard of the range in Sharon, but never been.  I actually built my own range on one of my farms.  It's nothing fancy, but I've got a 400 yard shot, 4 shots in the first 100 yards at 25 yard increments, then shots at 150,200,250,300,350,and 400.  It's only one lane, but it's close to home, I don't have to worry about waiting, etc.  I have been to the range near Clinton, but  I never felt great about being around a bunch of people I didn't know, that had loaded guns.  Haven't done it yet but gonna look you up on the map, never been to MN except to pass through the airport enroute to WY to hunt.  Have you had the chance to hunt much out there yet?

I got to hunt deer here 2 years ago, it was quite an experience alot different than what we are used too, there's alot of people all wearing blaze orange you cant hardly look anywhere in the woods without seeing someone.  Granted there are tons of deer and big one's at that, I shot at a super nice buck and missed twice (way to excited) and I did shoot a doe that field dressed at 185lbs, it was bigger that a 8-pointer I shot down in Winnesboro SC a few years ago.  I'm looking forward to hunting here this season even though we only get 1 buck, and can apply for doe tags.  It's hard to believe the deer here in size and numbers, up here they kill in a season in 10 days as they do in the whole 3 or 4 month season in SC, and as for size I work at a butcher shop and they do deer processing and I asked the owner whats the largest deer they have did and he said it field dressed at 265 lbs and average field dressed is 150 to 180 lbs. Its crazy how big bodied they are, racks aint all that huge but I cant eat the rack LOL.  I must be nice having your own range, I would love that, I had the same problems at the range I used to go to, it sucked having to wait and the other people were pretty incosiderent like shooting your targets and shooting semi-auto's and their brass hitting you while your trying to shoot.  When you look on the map I'm located about 30 miles SE of Fargo ND.  I see you said on one of your farms, what kind of farming do you do?  Thats all they do around here is farm, tons and tons of flat wide open land.  Where did you hunt in WY and what did you hunt for?  I've been thinking of trying to go to some different states up here and hunt now that I'm closer ( I hate flying).

Those are some big deer, we can't grow em down here like that.  Sounds like some I've seen up in northeast PA, where my wife is from.  Lots of corn and soybean farms up there.  Hunts sound similar too, blaze orange all over the place, and they kill a BUNCH of deer in short period of time.  In WY I hunt mule deer and antelope, depends on what I get drawn for, last time got mule deer in Thermopolis and antelope in Douglas.  Haven't tried elk yet, but maybe one day.  Thats what got me pumped up about shooting semi-long range.  You know in SC it's rare get 100 clear yards to shoot a deer.  And in WY you can see for miles it seems.  Anyway I love it out there, my mom-in-law is from WY, so we hunt on friends and family land.  Saves a lot of $$$, but still not a cheap trip.  I found you on the map, man you're way up there.  Oh yeah, and as far as my farming I'm a hay farmer.  Not much farming going on in this area much anymore.  Few folks going back to corn and soybean, with the biodiesel and ethanol fad, but remains to be seen how that'll hold up.  Gettin late, catch you later, Jim
