Went to the site, spent a good amount of time checking out the cannons and forts, very interesting! The carriage and mounting for the Maxim Machine Gun was an interesting concept, with the carriage supporting a yoke and swivel mount, something like it would work for a swivel gun, most likely, rather than a stationary mounting. A good way to put one to use on land, rather than a deck railing. Thanks for finding and posting this! BoomLover

For details on how to make a yoke and mounting hardware for a swivel gun get a copy of Building 18th Century Naval Artillery by Damian Siekonic
