10/22 metal trigger guard.

I picked up a new 10/22, do not want to turn it into a money pit or anything, I put a taller front gold bead and rear peep on it, all I want is a metal trigger guard assembly on it.  I am not looking for anything too special there either.  I found a site where Clark advertises just regular ones (aluminum) and you could also get a trigger job on a complete assembly too if you wanted.  Has anyone tried these?  I just want it shootable, and do not intend to spend much more money on it besides the sights I just put on it.  Was thinking about just the complete assembly so I could just drop it in.  if anyone has experience with these, please fill me in, from what I'm reading here they advertise that these are factory aluminum replacements.

I just threw a VQ hammer into a plastic trigger group and it is VERY shootable------- it doesn't sound like you're wanting to spend too much on this gun??

No, I'm not wanting to spend too much on this, decent sights (got those), decent trigger, that's about it.  I have been reading where just a hammer change would help.
I may go that route too.  I can also get a metal housing with nothing in it for about 35 bucks (from Clark)...they want about 75 bucks for one with the guts in.  This 10/22 will be just for plinking and goofing around, or for general use.  The main this is I just wanted a metal trigger guard too,  the one I used to have years ago had that.  They went to plastic now.  The 10/22 carbine new was a tad less than 200 bucks, the sights were about 40 bucks, and the last thing I buy will be the trigger guard assembly, or the housing.....or possibly since you brought it up a different hammer to go in a metal assembly.  (OK...already did something about the plastic butt plate too...but that's it.)

These 10/22's can be a money pit, there are gobs of accessories for them.  I didn't want to get too carried away on a new one.

Just did the same with a new ruger 10/22 compact. I went for the hornet trigger group, got a metal housing with trigger job, automatic bolt release and a different more easy to acces magazine release for $89.00 plus 24.00 for the metal housing option. Was the best buy I could find and I didn't have to wait for it. Trigger is fine and worlds apart from the original plastic trigger which was about 7-8 lbs. Stock trigger was unacceptable to me as the trigger pull required more force than the whole gun weighed. Hope it helps. also now have the extra trigger unit for experimentation purposes.
