Gotta love flea markets
« on: May 30, 2009, 02:07:42 PM »
Went to a local flea market today, and hit the mother lode.  A guy had some old guns on a table (legal here in NC).  He had a bubba stocked Springfield 03.  The barrel is not too great, but I've seen worse.  Numbers matching gun, but the stock is sanded and cut down to nothing.  Has the original sights, no extra holes for scope mounts or anything.  He also had a complete Enfield Mk.4 No.1.  The bore looks great, gun is complete and numbers all match.  I had to pay the princely sum of $285 for the pair.  He did throw in a box of ammo for each, though.  Good, bad, or ugly?

A stock for the Springfield should be pretty easy to come by.  They would ask $500.00 for it as is around here.

I know how you feel about jusnk.  There are 2 flea markets in the near area.  The first one I went to yesterday, was junk central.  A fire would be an improvement.  The other is hit and miss, sometimes good stuff, sometimes nothing.  Another guy had ammo for sale, but he was higher than walmart.  444 Marlin Rem was $35 a box, 45-70 was $38.  45 LC cowboy loads were $50.  Too rich for my blood, I'll just reload mine.
