9/6/09 Hunting Season
« on: September 06, 2009, 05:05:03 PM »
Well I will try to get some action going in this forum again. Seems like everybody moved out of Georgia.

A few friends and I were talking about this years up coming deer season. On my trip home last night I remembered part of a discussion we had about an old stand that was set up about 8 years ago.The stand had great potential when it was set up but it was hard to get to so we never hunted it (basically we forgot it was there). This morning I got up early and went to check on it. The stand was still there in good shape (heavy built ladder stand). It took about 30 minutes to clear all the honey suckle vines off it. There were plenty signs of activity in the area. Think I'm going to hunt this stand early this year.

While checking for deer signs this morning I stopped to cool off for a few minutes. There were 4 small pine trees from 3/4" to about 2" in diameter rubbed clean. The tar hadn't started running out of the scars yet. A little farther down the fire break I found a big trail that has plenty of use. Think I gonna set up some kind of stand near this area this week.

Anybody else doing any scouting yet?  If so what kind of action are you seeing now.

thanks for the post!   ;D
I haven't had a chance to do any neighborhood improvement yet this year.  Looks like I'll have to do it after opening day.   :-\  Sure did want to hand a stand or two before that though... :-[

If you would just send us a map, we wouldn't need to scout.  Sounds like you have the perfect place!!! ;D
