used .45-70?
« on: June 11, 2009, 03:50:10 PM »
have a chance to pick up a used .45-70 for $160.00, I dont NEED it, since I have a marlin cb.

Its a 22" with the synth stock on it. They dont move fast in that store, so Im not in a hurry, been there for a long time and am getting a decent price I think.

what do you think, about the price... not whether  I should get it, I know your answers already  ;D

thanks

Dave

I recently paid $100.00 more than that for a new one.

That seems like a good price to me. I just ordered a .45-70 and the cheapest I could find one brand new was $229.99. That is also the price I paid for a new .44mag with a Marlin barrel, iron sights, and a SB2 frame.

I happily paid $199 for one just like the one you found, except it also came with a Nikon Prostaff 3x9-40mm scope mounted on it. I'd say buy it! Definitely won't lose any money if you don't like it later on.

You'll like the synthetic stock on the .45-70 cause you can easily add weight to it to reduce recoil.

GO GET IT!!!!

Darn peer pressure and low prices!!! ;D

It looks pretty good thus far, missing the front sight, but Ill figure out something I want on it.

Congrats Dave, not to worry about the front sight, H&R has em for $10.75 plus shipping, or you can upgrade to a Firesight, that's in the FAQs.  ;)
