I hope this is ok to  repost this here. It nots reloading but reloaders might have some ideas on this.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I put 41 rds of  winchester  usa  white box threw my new kel tec p3at. 380  So far it has been flawless. Very accurate,   much easier to shoot with the short grip then I thought it  would be.

What I dont understand is the spent brass upon inspection is no longer round at the mouth. One side has a flat  spot     What would cause this ?   Gun has worked perfectly in the  short test but I am not sure what to make of the brass ?  There is a crease on the outside of the brass almost  half the length of the brass from the mouth to almost center pushing the brass inward making a flat side ??

It's a factor of the ejection of the gun.  Some guns are hard on brass.  One of my .45s (can't remember which) puts a small dent in the brass about half-way down.  The SIG 556 rifle almost crushes the mouth of the case (at least the two I've seen shot did and one was crushing steel Wolf cases).

Won't affect and isn't indicative of the reliability of the gun just might shorten case life by a couple of reloadings assuming that you can get it back in round in the dies in the first place.

I've seen this with a lot of handguns and rifles. The dings get caused during ejection and will come right out when reloading. Nothing to worry about!

Thanks for the input helotaxi and huntswithdogs. I think you are right.

The brass gets thrown half an acre away. If You are ever attacked violently by two assaliants with this
tool and you position yourself just right you can knock one out with the empty brass throw !
