Winchester Model 69 Question
« on: June 14, 2009, 12:49:06 PM »
I know that they made these for about 30 years or so, but since they weren't a serial number gun, is there any way to determine whether you have an earlier or later one. I have a Model 69A with chrome bolt & trigger guard and scope rail and am curious. I searched them on gunbroker but none have dates listed. I'm guessing later, but I have no idea. I ask because there appears to be different models with different features such as sights, safetys, etc. and I wonder about parts. Thanks, Brett

Have you pulled your barreled action from the stock, to check the barrel's underside for a year-of-manufacture stamp ?  Many, but not all, had it there.

The Model 69 was made from 1935 to 1937 and the 69A was made from 1937 to 1963.
