getting the 17 back out

My 17 hmr sportster has been retired mostly since I got my savage 22-250.   As I have mentioned I had to move for job reasons. well I met the farmer that owns across the road from me. the field across from me is in hay but may go to beans yet this year. He said , He would be tickled for me to remove every ground hog I can get  ;D the front field is better suited to using  a 17 over 22-250 .  I  can shoot groundhog, coyote, squirrel and run my beagles  when I ask boundries lines From that  fence, to that creek , all the way to the next road !! just a little over 600 acres  ;D ;D ;D
right out the front door

How lucky can you get!!  I'd love an opportunity like that.    I'd take care of that neighbor.

   If I'm going to go after groundhogs the 17 HMR is the rifle I use. I have a farmer who lets me hunt for the woodchucks along his creek and field and those things are there in abundance. I need to get out there because the beans and corn are up....

I, too have both a Savage 22-250 (super accurate) and a Savage 17 HMR. I'd been using and handloading or the 22-250 for so long that I had neglected the 17....Until last night when I spotted a fat grounhog eating up my food plot!

I dusted off the 17 HMR and head-shot him at 75 yards. Like seeing and old friend again!  Great little gun, great little cartridge that does the job, and doesnt make a lot of noise.
