The people of the Cherokee Nation do declare!
« on: March 02, 2009, 09:44:46 AM »
The following is the Declaration of the Cherokee Nation to throw its lot in with its Southern friends in the fight for liberty!

Isn't it ironic (or maybe its not) that the last General to surrender his army is a Cherokee.

You're right again, wncchester.
The Seminoles remain the ONLY tribe of "Native Americans" to have NEVER signed a treaty with the United States. It's a good thing, too. The U.S. has broken EVERY treaty it EVER entered into with any Indian nation.

Tuff dudes in them swamps, indeed!  ;)

I was under the impression that Stand Watie didn't so much surrender as just stopped fighting.
