Soda Can, eh? That ought to be a kick in the pants when it gets a charge touched off. Great looking cannon.

Dominick, that's a great looking NEW model you have added to the growing list of different models that you've already produced.

As far as your other thread goes, OUCH is an understatement, three in a row is bad medicine, I feel for you, and hope that this trend is definitely over & done with.
Many moons ago, on the job, I snapped the tendon in the middle finger of my right hand, and the mad scientist that they recommended I go to, decided to drill two steel rods into my knuckle. I was off for six months with these rods x'ed through my knuckle; all for a hurt on one little finger.

Another beautiful job, Dominick, congradulations! Can you give the vitals? Lenght, ID, OD, powder chamber size, weight of barrel, firing system? Great looking carriage, too! Will you be making more of these Howitzers? Thanks, BoomLover

BoomLover,  The wheels are 24" diameter, trail length is 39", tread width is 24",  Barrel length is 26-1/2" OAL, Bore 2.630",  Powder chamber is 1-1/4" diameter x 2" deep, .22 caliber caplock system. I did not weigh it yet.   Dom

Douglas,  It is getting the OD carriage and a bronze color barrel.  Customer's request on the colors.

Victor,  How about chrome?  I'm waiting for photos of a naval cannon I built that the guy is having the barrel and wheels chromed.

Hey Dom,

It has been quite a while since I looked on the board here and I was glad to see you still making things - but sorry to hear about your run of bad luck. At least if bad things come in 3's, you should be good to go when you're all healed up.

It has been a long time since I took delivery of your French 75 - but I thought perhaps some pictures of it in its new home here in Alaska might cheer you up. It is very loved in its new home - and much envied amongst my similarly inclined friends. It is truly a treasure.  I haven't fired it this spring yet, but last summer had a couple of good rounds with some ball and grape... a lot of fun.

I kept it in the garage all winter - stepping around it under its cover as I came and went. Like some people keep a boat or something - waiting for warmer days. It is a pleasure to shoot and is all quality.

Thank you again and I wish you a speedy recovery.

-Owen

 That's cool.

I think if I were to do something like that I'd go with nickel; it's got more of a yellow tint that (to me, anyway) looks more appropriate than chrome for an old-timey item...

Amazing what a coat of the right color paint will do! That is a great looking barrel with an excellent paint job! Congrats on another job well done! Still pondering the 12", 12 spoke steel wheels I asked about a little bit ago, almost ready to order them! BoomLover

Boomlover,  I have been building a lot of wheel and axle assemblies so just let me know when you're ready.  Dom
