Gentlemen; I have read your informative opinions on the different model Tikka's. One person mentioned buying one at Walmart. Can you purchase only the T-3 tikka at walmart ?Could you also purchase the whitetail hunter at walmart?

The only Tikkas I've seen at Walmart are the low end Synthetic/blue models. You can ask the Manager if he/she can order one. T-3s are still non existant in my neck of the woods! :x

Don't know if Wally's has them----but I'm up to 3 T3's now---.223---.243----and .270.

I also picked a new .338----but it's not a Tikka---but a Howa-----$329 was too cheap to pass up for a gun that won't get used all that much-----I also had 2 sets of Remington scope bases laying around---which also fits Howa-----so now she has Leupold QRW rings and bases and a Burris Fullfield II 3x9x40 Ballisti--Plex sitting on her now. The Ram-Line stock on it is surprisingly rigid----much better than the Butler Creek's.

Now my bolt action collection is pretty much complete----well maybe get a .30-06 too---lol------might be a long while---getting a powerfull urge for a 20ga Red Label.

I don't know if Wal-Mart sells them in my area (or yours), but I CAN tell you that I like the WH a little bit better than the T3. Everyone says how they like the WH much better. In fact, very few people liked the new T3. However, when I actually held one in my hands, it wasn't as bad as I thought, at least for me. I didn't care for the stock too much - it felt kinda cheap, whereas the WH synthetic stock is much nicer in my opinion. Like I said, I do like the WH more than the T3s. Still, if I could get a T3 for a great price, then I would get probably get it.

Actually---I've been giving my T3 stocks a work over.

Foam insulation in the butts----takes out that hollow sound while adding no weight----then sandpaper the entire stock---gives the look and the feel of the old style Browning composite stocks-----also trims up the stock nicely. Very thin.

Every time I pick up a WTH----I can't stand the feel of them-----waaaay too heavy---the older I get , the lighter I want my rifle------also they are very fat and thick feeling----then the Monte Carlo hump----just greatly increases felt recoil to me----I much prefer the classic straight stock.

Well----there you have it---2 differing opinions---take your pick as to what you like.

Oppps---forgot to comment on the WTH syn stocks------the last few ones the local emporium had---the syn stocks on the WTH were very poorly fitted----free floated??? dream on------there would be a large gap on one side while the other side of the barrel channel was touching the barrel all the way up----I observed this on quite a few rifles----I'm surprised that they actually sold them----because they didn't discount them at all.
