With the growing interest in 338-06, 35 Whelen, 9.3 cartridges, I've wondered if the 376 would become popular too.  Seems like it would fit right in with the current interest in short fat shells.  Seems like it would be a good Alaska round but haven't heard much about it since it was first launched.

haven't got to try it out on game yet, but hopefully will soon with the upcoming whitetail and bear season here in western Virginia.I love the rifle.I bought one in 7mm-08,Steyr SBS pro hunter mt. rifle, with the 20 inch barrel, and camo synthetic stock, and fell in love with it, so when I started looking for a hard hitting carbine in a large caliber to hunt brush and black bear I decided to go with it's big brother. These steyrs have the slickest action I've ever seen, and really nice triggers. They handle like a dream, and have the removeable butt spacers for when winter comes and you have layers on.The ballistics on the .225 gr. factory loads are almost identical to the .350 rem mag., and the .275 gr. loads are close to the .375 H&H mag, plus it shoots both loads to the same point of impact.I've read several articles on the web about the .376 in Africa, and they claim it's catching on, and well respected. It does seem the ideal Alaska guide gun.I doubt it will catch on for some reason though.I've bought 200 pcs. of brass and dies because I doubt factory loadings will be around too much longer either.
