357 mag Ruger BH takes Yote!

While out Dove hunting today I had the oprotunity to wack a nice yote!  ;D He was a big boy about 30lbs!  He wasn't to smart either!  ::)  My brother and I were just leaving a spot where we had walked a patch for doves -no doves so I wanted to take a back way out of the area and I just turned into a gravel pit  with a road down into the valley so we could catch the main road. My brother starts yelling there's a yote!! He was down in a dip next to the road so I didn't see him until he stepped out in front of my truck- I was looking further out in front! Stopped the truck and this dummy yote trots out to about 50 yards or so and stops turns broad side  and stands there as I get out and take a bead on him!  :o  First shot was a little low as I was shooting down at him. Hit a front leg at the elbow -second shot connected and dropped him! ;D

 ;) very good shooting. I have only killed one coyote with a six gun. It was a Bisley .45 Colt. Nice job. ;)

It was so weird as they usually hit high gear when you get any where close to them!!  But there are a ton of them around this year, earlier we had 6 or 7 started yelping not 60 yards from us at another location just after we had shot at some doves- couldn't believe they stayed so close with us shooting!  Unfortunately I didn't get a shot at those.  ::)

Don't shoot them! Let them breed with the smart ones and create a generation of dumber yotes! In a couple of years you'll be able to shoot them as they try hitch-hiking down that road.  ;D

kill one with a s@W model 15 at about 40 yards. took all 6 shots thought. lol

  I would really like to take a coyote with a handgun. This upcoming deer season I'll be using either .357,.41, or .44 mags while deer hunting and if one of these yotes give me a decent shot, I'll take it. I almost got a shot last year with the bow but the coyote saw my movement and zoomed out of my area real fast. You did good 454Puma....congratulations...

 I always have either the 357 Mag or my 454 Casull on my hip while out hunting or bumping around in the field. So any time I get a chance at a shot I take it.  But like I  said 9 time out ten they are in high gear when I see one so a shot with a pistil is out of the question. I just picked up a Win 94 30-30 to also have in the truck for those longer shots! ;D

454, Do you see many coyotes in Pa.???? I usually hunt there at least a mth each year counting spring, summer, and fall... I have heard them there, but never saw one.... ;)
