How far do you guys go with the special clothes washing, shampoo, special
soap, and clean underwear when bow hunting.

I try to stay as scent free as I can but I'm not a fanatic about it. My first deer was killed in street clothes after a 6 hour drive.

I'll use unscented laundry detergent, scent eliminating soap and change my clothes when I'm hanging around the fire. That's about as far as it goes.

I'll play the wind. Hunting a crosswind or down wind is what I do.
I don't own and will not own any of the "high tech" clothing. I've been killing deer without it for years and don't see the need in it. I've had deer walk up on me after having breakfast at the WaffleHouse, stopping to get gas and while I'm sitting on stand smoking. I don't fall into the "gotta have the newest Camo" game neither. Jeans or brown cotton duck have worked pretty good for me.

Recently while watching one of the hunting shows, the host was on stand about 40 ft up in a tree, wearing his "no scent" clotheing that had also been sprayed down with whatever "no scent" spray he was hawking that week and had a deer run off because he said it caught his wind! HOW? if this stuff is supposed to be so good?

Maybe I'm just getting too old to fall for all the hype and advertisemnts....

I have always thought being still was more important.
I remember having a mule deer doe walk up to within 10-15 feet of me
i was sitting on a rock not moving had been watching her for a long time,
at 50 yards she circled me and still came in. How does a deer know what
a person smells like, maybe just a big skunk. I am sure they think some thing
is not to their liking, but still think being absolutely still is better than
most things. I hang my clothes in a ceader tree at night, think it kinda
over comes human scent. ;D

I have owned probably every piece of "scent clothing" made and used soaps, sprays, etc, etc.  You cannot fool a deers nose, maybe it helps a little but you must hunt the wind.  I feel it is far more important to be scent free going to and from the stand, ie rubber boots, etc than trying to be scent free in a tree.
You might fool a few young bucks but the old man gets one whiff and he is outta there.  I think the higher you go is a real asset.

I use sent killer laundry detergent and scent killer spray. When it comes to washing my hunting clothes I let no one else in the house touch them because half the time they forget to use the right detergent. I don't know how much of a difference it makes but better safe than sorry. When I use the spray I put it on my equipment and I go head to toe on myself. I always make sure to get the bottom of my boots really good since that is the part that makes contact with the ground.

I to go all out with the scent elimination stuff.  I wash my clothes in scent free detergent only after washing other stuff in it to clear the washer of its older scents then i put the in a tub with oak leaves until time to hunt.  I wont were any leather and wont take my wallet with me because it holds smell.  My boots are knee high rubber boots.  I shower in the soaps that worked best for me and I brush my teeth with baking soda and water.  Then i were coveralls to the field never getting gas on my way and change clothes when i get out of the truck.  I dont use cover scents exept the oak leaves i store my clothes in and one earth scent wafer.  This is the process That has worked best for me so i stick it to.

What do you do when you are on a week long hunt, camped out in the woods,
no shower.  ;D

I have never used any of the sent free clothing in my 30 plus years of hunting. I use the wind and good concealment and hunt from the ground mostly when bow hunting. I just wash my clothing in sent free detergent and use dirt scented dryer sheets and then stick my clothing in a bag with local pine branches.  I have had deer come within 5 feet of me and never knew I was there.

It also depends where you hunt, in Delaware we have people everywhere and the animals are use to human scent, not like out in the west where animals are not so use to humans scent.
