Chili: you don't need that spring or the skinny little Gold Cup sear. You can install regular 1911 parts - they all fit in the same place. I did that with my Series 70 Gold Cup a bunch of years ago and it shot better after I switched the parts.
But, rather than getting plain jane ol 1911 parts, get yourself some Chip McCormack parts. I got a kit from him with the trigger, sear, plunger, and hammer and it made a noticeable difference. Also, if you find you want a lighter trigger pull for target work, on the hammer/sear spring, the 3 pronged job held in place by the grip safety, if you bend back the center spring blade a bit it lessens the tension on the trigger and both lightens and smoothens the trigger pull.
