scope base
« on: June 28, 2009, 02:47:20 PM »
Hi,I am new to posting a message, long time reader.I have a quick question maybe someone can answer.I bought a scope base for my sidekick. There seems to be a gap{just enough to see through} between the front of the scope base and the barrel, just before where the first screw has been tapped. After that the rest of the base sits flush with the rifle barrel. The gap is maybe just over a inch long.My question is will this be fine or should I have gotten a different scope base.I can't remember what brand base it was, as my wife got me it for a CHRISTmas presant.I have not sighted in the scope yet.Hope to very soon.
Thanks for the help,
Steve.

PS:if I can figure out how to post a picture I will.

sbuff,

All of the bases cantilever off what is considered the "chamber area" of the barrel in the rifle/shotguns. It is normal, and there is no other way around it. All of the bases currently made are going to be that way. As accurate as my H&R/NEF's are, I don't think it is a problem.

Here is a pic of a Huntsman (top), and a Sidekick (bottom).
