what caliber are you interested in seeing. for some of us here, it would take awhile to post pictures

The FAQs are mandatory reading for Handi newbies, even the oldtimers find stuff in there regularly they don't know about!!

I believe what PHATINJUN is trying to say is that you put them upside down so that the oil runs down the barrel and not into the wood of the stock.

Kurt gets the prize, oil runs down the bore and onto the latch shelf and latch which is an accuracy killer in a Handi, doesn't do the stock any good either as Primos mentioned!!

Hmmm.. haven't had a problem with oily latch or wood in my 21-22 years of NEF/H&R's, but I guess that is something to keep in mind.

Cleaning and drying the latch/shelf is THE number one fix for accuracy issues reported by H&R gunsmiths, it's also the number one fix for accuracy problems here and one of the Handi Basics.

I learned the trick from an old timer that did it just to keep the stock from getting oil stained and started doing it with my muzzleloaders years ago to keep oil from accumulating in the breech, the last place you want it collecting on them!! $:-\$

It took me a few seconds to figure out that wasn't a garage door they're leaning on.

I was envisioning the wife rolling in the driveway and hitting the button on her remote while you stood there and watched from the inside.

I was thinking "how can this Tim guy seem so smart and still...."

How padded is the floor? I would be a bit afraid the crown would get damaged with the muzzles sitting that way.

Floor is carpeted wood, shooting em would be harder on the muzzle.

Down here in the South, it is way to humid to store guns like that. I stored a cheap $49 muzzle loader like that once and learned my lesson quick after I found the crown completely covered in a thick rust later on. Luckily, the rest of the barrel was fine. I now have a proper gun safe with two of the electric dehumidifying sticks mounted in it. Basically glorified aquarium heaters, but they work well.

I run a dehumidifier in the basement, humidity is 55-60% year round, Eezox on the guns, never had a problem with rust.

Nah, it's not the dehumidifier keeping them rust free, it's you being retired and shooting them all the time! They don't even have a chance to sit around and rust!

Break Free CLP also works wonders on rust prevention. I still haven't tried the Eezox yet but I'm very very pleased at how CLP keep the surface rust off my guns. Swampeast Missouri is hell on metal.
