b78 trigger trouble

heres my problem...
when i run the action and then lower the hammer to the half cock position (safety), the trigger does not disengage. if i pull the trigger with it at the half cock it will drop the hammer and fire. every 3rd or 4th time i run the action it will work right so i tried to adjust the trigger adjustments a little and now it doesnt work right at all. my other 78s click as you lower the hammer and then the trigger shoe is totally free, but i cant figure this one out... help and thanks.

Arty,
I had a similar problem and traced it to what, IIRC, was a torsion spring that controlled the sear. Unless you've done quite a bit of work on triggers this is a job for a 'smith.

i cleaned the trigger group and liberally oiled it, and this seemed to make it work about half the time. i think i will try to smooth and polish the contact parts. hopefully this might work

That trigger is the B78's siggest difference from the Winchester. They are more than a bit cantankerous.. I take it to a smith.. Heck! I am a smith and I'd consider taking my B78 to someone if it needed trigger work,,,
