375 Win.

Howdy Everyone,
Just got a 375 Win. barrel for my contender. It is a 14 inch with muzzle brake.
Is there anyone on this fourm that has been reloading for this cal?
I already have dies and a old lyman two pour mold. This mold you can make the noze soft and the rest of the bullet hard as you like.Works good at 375 Win. speed in my Marlin.

I have reloaded only jacketed bullets up till now.  I have some bullets coming from Western Bullet company (western@bigsky.net)  John is great to deal with and has great quality products.  I didn't want to go through the hassle of buying and trying several moulds when I can just order what I need from John.

With my cast bullets I like a large metplate, as I believe it delivers greater shock.  I was going to try the 2 part mould as you did, please let me know how it works out!

Good Luck!
Thanks!
Bob

I picked up a used 14" hunter in .375 a couple of weeks ago. The only bullets I have found are Hornady 220 FP. I seat these out about .16 inches longer than the cannelure to put them just off of the rifling.
I started working with BLC2 because I had some on hand. At 45.5 grains the case is full and velocity barely gets 1800. The primers are starting to flatten using CCI 350's. This powder is obviously a little slow so I found some H4198. Much better. With 37.5 grains the velocity was about 2050 but primers again are a little flattened. I have settled on 35.0 grains at 1900 + fps. The recoil is noticeably less with H4198 than the BLC2 even at 2000 fps. I havent shot these from the bench but resting the gun on my knees while seated they go into 2 inches @ 100 yards.

These loads are with a longer than normal overall length so dont crimp in the cannelure and use this info.

The brake is loud but really helps reduce recoil.

I've been reloading for mine for over a year now.  I've used nothing but the Hornady 220gr. round noses, and have had great results.  IMR 4198 is the powder.  Never reloaded cast bullets...never saw the need to.

14" with no break...recoil is actually not that bad.
How'd you like a peek at my 14-incher? (Contender, that is)
