Magazine conversion for Browning BLR
« on: May 29, 2009, 01:08:23 PM »
Hi all,

I am researching my next project, which will begin within the next few weeks. It is to be based on the Browning BLR chambered in .260Rem. I am interested in finding information on increasing the BLR's magazine capacity from 4 to 8-10 rounds? Are there high capacity magazines avilable for the BLR? Or is it possible to adapt the BLR to take a higher capacity Magazine from another manufacurer [ie: Accuracy International or others]? This rifle will at time, be used in timed shooting where up to 10 rounds are fired on the course of 5 targets. 2 4 shot magazines is an option, but not really adequate. I much rather prefer to set up with higher capacity magazines if it is possible... Any info or ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you.

cheers,

Cam....

cam, I have been into blrs since 1971 and no to my knowledge there are no after market or factory larger capacity mags. I have tried to get several gunsmiths to make me one but they all said it would be too labor intensive, meaning no one would pay for their time.

If you are a machinest and start with a early 81 series you could no doubt make one. I would sugest the steel reciever flat sided early 81 model as the easiest with berhaphs a m1a1 mag modifyed or coupled to the factory mag as a starting point.

I'm not handy enought to do the work but maybe you can.
