Did anyone ever do this?

Anyone ever take a 15 inch pistol barrel and have a gunsmith put a long muzzlebrake on it to make it a rifle barrel?  This should be legal right?

     I haven't, but lots of folks have and it's legal as long as the attached piece is permanently(not removable)attached.
