Just wanted to know what you guys over there use in your 223 for Goat sized animals? I was on a recent hunting trip when we stumbled on a heard of wild Goats. I handed my 223 to a mate because he had Camo clothing on and could get much closer than i. His first shot to the chest seemed only to spook the Goat and with the second shot (at the same animal) nailing him between the eyes. The shots were taken less that 200 yards. On closer inspection we realized that the first bullet had hit but not penetrated deeply, it had just exploded before it could get into the vital organs. They were 55gn Remington psp. What bullet would you recommend for the job that would be the most accurate and reliable on this size animal?? Thanks

If you can find them, try the 64 grain psp Winchester bullets, they were designed for larger animals. The PSP Remingtons are clearly a varmit bullet designed to vaporize groundhogs and prairie dogs.

Hey if you can get Noslers try their 60 gr partition - it should be ideal. I haven't tried it but I really liked the 60 gr solid base for my Ruger #1. Never shot any big game with it though.

I looked on the Nosler website at the 60gn partition bullet, That will do perfectly i reckon. Thanks for the input, i did'nt know Nosler made a partition in 60gn.. I looked in my Aussie reloading book and it states the load there...
25gns of Benchmark one for 3190fps using the 60gn bullet. I dont mind the loss of velocity as long as the bullet drops the goat better than what i have been using. Once again, thanks

Another option, would be a 53gr. barnes X at 3300 fps. Or a 50 gr. X at 3400 fps.
