ruger charger optics
« on: August 01, 2009, 12:46:25 PM »
we  just got some  of  these
i  thought they  were  the stupidest  thing when  i first  saw one
my  som  thought they were  the ''coolest thing''
so  we now have  some
but  haven't shot them

i know it is a pistol  but  how do you shoot  one?

at  arms length  the scope would be way out  there even for a pistol scope
and  it  would be heavy

i  think  i would  shoot this gun  like a rifle  with out  a stock
requireing  a rifle scope

also  this gun  seems  like it calls for  higher  magnification

but  then  a red  dot  has  no  eye releif  requirements
when drugs are outlawed only out laws will have drugs

The one I looked at had a bipod on it for shooting from a rest. Then the eye relief on a pistol scope wouldn't be a problem as adjusting the gun to your field of view is easy.

with  the  bipod  i think a riflr scope woud  give  larger  feild of view

also the rifle scope  has  more  options

Saw an episode of Guns and Ammo TV a while back and they were shooting it off the bench with the tripod and using a rifle scope.  Looked kind of awkward to me, but I have to admit the whole concept seems awkward!

I guess I just don't understand what it's purpose is, other than plinking.

The gun is just a 1022 turned into a pistol. IMHO if you were going to shoot with a rifle scope why not just get a 1022 and avoid all that awkwardness ? But that's just me.

My thoughts are a pistol scope or a red dot and shoot at arms length with the bipod off a rest.

I have been using simmons pistol scopes on my revolvers with good luck, I know there are better scopes but these are an inexpensive scope to try and see if you like.  If not go with the red dot which eye relief will not matter.

If you are using it for target only go with a 4X.  If you plan on using it for a squirrel gun or something similar go with the red dot or a 2x to increase field of view.

If you have never shot a pistol scope they take a little getting use too and would suggest starting with the 2x.

One last option would be a variable pistol scope but have no experience with them.

i  was  watching  youtube  most  seemed to have  rifle scopes

every negative  comment  i read  so foar  about this  gun
i  have  said  my self

i  think  3x9  rifle  will  be best

i  put  a 2 x 7  a-cog  just  to  ''fondel  it''
on  the kitchen  table  i  like the  rifle  position  with  bi pod  out

free  handed  rifle  position  was good  holding  one  leg of bi-bod

i  think  i will mount a pistol  scope this weekk and  ''fondle''  it  some  more

we put a 2x weaver pistol scop on ours & it is deadly accurate at 50 yrds off the bipod. It is a bench type fun gun, not real practical but alot of fun
