.550 cast bullet
« on: July 09, 2009, 03:20:11 AM »
Newby so may be dumb ?? Has anyone ever seen or know where I can get a mold for a .550 slug .I know at one time there were foster slugs that were .550-28ga. I am not so into it that I want a custom mold but are there any factory made molds out there that cast near .550? Even if it's a large bullet that I could modify to work? Trying to get a conical for a smooth bore. I guess it could be called a .55 cal??Thanks Kurt

Usually a conical in a smooth bore is a waste of time. But if you really want one, Mountain Molds probably is your best bet. Not much more money than a factory RCBS or similar mould, but you can get it any way you want.

BTW, since I switched to round balls in my 12 ga, I'm getting performance way beyond what is possible with foster type slugs.
