It is my understanding that the "Yugos" got into machine tool/manufacturing in the late 1800s with everyone else. This is the Balkans and exact political borders, well, "shift" much. Same "industries" group made the "Yugo car." I think the Nazi Germans got them to making the Mauser 98 rilfe. Following the WW II war, I know that Herter's carried the XKE and the J9 rifles that were made using Mark X actions. [DeHaas seemed to think these might be Mark X 2nds...] Interarms imported the rifle as the Mark X, some sotcked in England. Seems there were "Parker Hale" rifles using this action... Knew a couple gunsmiths that stopped converting surplus Mausers 'cause the Mark X with a barrel was cheaper than they could do the coversion work. Just added a stock. I have a Herter's J9 I am happy with and many years later, they "shrinked" the design and made the "Mini Mark X" and I got one of them too. Interarms went under. C. Dailey carried the rifles for a time. Now Remington is carrying them... While they do not rival the "custom shop" rifles meant for match, as a rule they go bang and if you are doing your part, the game comes home with you. What more can you ask for??? Luck.
