What's Your .......................
« on: September 28, 2003, 07:59:43 AM »
Skipper's topic "How long have you been bass fishing?" got me to thinking about my personal best in large mouth and small mouth bass.  My best large mouth is a 16 lb. 3 oz. beauty I caught on a white jig while tule dipping in the spring of 1993 while fishing on Clear Lake in Lake County, California.  Though for sure I had me a lake record.  NO, she needed to gain another 3 lbs. to break the record for that lake.

My best small mouth was a 5 lb. 10 oz. female I caught on a small reservoir outside of Seattle, Washington in the fall of 1972.  Got her on a 3/8 oz. silver Kast Master with a red feathered trailer attached to it.  What is your personal best in these two categories?  Lawdog

I've caught several smallmouth in the 5 lb class.  A lot of them on Dale Hollow.  21 inches is the size limit, so I've not weighed many of them.  I have caught a few in the low 6's.

As far as Largemouth go, my best was caught on a private lake in Alabama, it weighed around 10, and was released.  Over time, I have caught several in the 7 pound category and a couple just over 8.  16 lbs is outstanding.  I've only seen 1 bigger, and that was Woody's bass.

There's Fishing and then there's Bass Fishing
Its kinda like the difference between Sandlot Baseball and Playing on the Team.
The difference is Practice

So far one 10lber caught on a Rebel Big Claw crawfish crankbait at first light in two feet of water two feet from shore.  I have seen bigger bass in this place they keep on robbing my sunnies.               BigBill
