handgonnes or thundermugs
« on: July 18, 2009, 06:11:52 PM »
While doing some reading on the internet, I came across to a couple of posts about these items. Does anyone make a reproduction of the handgonnes, (small pole mounted hand cannon) or thundermug signal cannons?

thanks for putting up with a new guy and if I'm in the wrong area just let me know ;D

There should be quite a few threads come up here about both. Just search this forum for "gonne" or "thundermug".

Also check with our sponsors listed inthe sticky's at the top of the forum.  They make what you want.

 Dom Carpenter makes both.

If you don't see what you want on his menu of items, ask him if he can make it for you. Many here have had Dom make fully custom guns or modifications of his standard models.

Yep, your in the right place, alright! I got my Handgonne from Wes, and "baby" thundermug from Dom. Both good craftsmen, among many on this forum! BoomLover

If you don't see what you want from the sponsors here, handgonne.com is pretty popular with medeival reenactment groups.

If you have access to some shop equipment, they're fun to make and not too difficult for basic shapes. A lathe makes things easy, but I've made several using just a large drill press and a grinder, as well.
