What do the gunsmiths do to improve these triggers?

I'm not a smith, but greatly improved mine by polishing the sear and trigger interfaces, and pins.  I also drilled and tapped the trigger housing for an overtravel screw.  The newer guns may also need a lighter trigger return spring.  Properly set up like this, the triggers are outstanding.

The MkII triggers can be improved but require altering the sear to limit creep and change spring tensions to reduce pull weights.  I address overtravel by installing stops on the trigger itself..  A very delicate process and one that can lead to many problems..  I no longer use trigger stops installed in the trigger guard as they are subject to change as the stock in altered by compression and drying..  The easiest and aurguably the best way to improve these triggers is by installing an aftermarket variant..
