I soak mine in a knight product ( I forget the name right now) made for cleaning muzzleloaders and scrub with an old toothbrush. I'm sure dish soap would probably work also.

Soak in small container or bottle using Hoppe's #9.

Use 1/8" bit in drill to clean out the primer end.

Insert tube of a spray degreaser in the primer hole and spray.

Blow dry.

Use small pin to clean other end.

Knowing sometimes it can be difficult to find a needle or a pin that will work, I just strip the plastic off a bread wrapper. Get the wire started and put a couple kinks in it. Douche it a few times.

If your wife has an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner it can make that job a cats azz. Also cleans up brass pretty nice.

I always store mine muzzle down after cleaning to keep the lube from seeping in the breech plug area. Always pop a couple primmers before loading .

I use a acytelene torch tip cleaning tool.  It has different sizes on it.

Me, too.  Works great!  You can get one from Harbour Freight or your local welding supply shop.

let it soak in Coke for a 1/2 hour, pour the other half in a glass for yourself!  Then brush the face, use the 1/8 drill bit and the pipe cleaners.  Canned air, and your done.
Please be sure to check your gun at the door.  WHAT!

No need to soak a breech plug in anything.  Spray it with Windex with vinegar (this is the clear Windex) and brush the crud off with a toothbrush.  Then rinse with water.  Use a pipe cleaner to clean the hole under the primer:  About every third cleaning take a drill bit and turn it with your fingers to get all the crud out.  Make sure the small flash hole is clear before putting the plug back into the gun.  Takes me less than two minutes to clean a breech plug.

The Windex is slightly acidic and the powder residue is a base.  Sometimes you can see the crud fizzing as you spray it with Windex with vinegar.
