have several single action revolvers, but none with a bisley grip would like some insight from someone who has experience with the bisley grip. :o

;)Hesco, while most of my Rugers have been sold or traded, I had a number of Bisley revolvers. Still have one in .22. I guess I really prefer it over the std. single action for my shooting. I am not a cowboy action shooter. All my sixguns were for target and hunting. ;)

Welp...  8)  my only Bisley is my Ruger SBH 44 Mag Hunter.  And I like it, A LOT, for a heavy recoiling revolver.  Otherwise I prefer the standard grip.  But I'm a pistolaro retread.  What do I know...  :-[

My single action revolvers are now all Bisley grips. I like the bigger grips and the way they transfer recoil. I may be an exception because I had an injury to my gun hand with the resultant scar tissue. Bisley's forever!!!

First choice for me as far as single actions go would be the Freedom Arms guns both FA83 and FA97. I've never felt a better single action grip. For Ruger guns the Bisley wins hands down over their standard BH and SBH grip. The original Colt SAA grip is superior to the standard Ruger grip in my opinion so I'd put it in dead last place for any gun with noticeable recoil.

both my Ruger SA's are converted to bisleys and i love em....but it's not just the grip. The spur on the bisley hammer is easier to operate than the standard hammer and that curved bisley trigger fits my arthritic digits pretty good too....bisley rugers just plain look cool......

hesco, ever notice that most if not all the big bore custom single actions use Bisley grips, that's because for heavy recoil there's nothing better and if you lay a Ruger Bisley over a FA 83 the grips are just about identical.  For me ,even with normal size hands ,recoil recovery and shot to shot speed is much faster with the Bisley.

if you even want to see the differnce in the way they control recoil shoot a 500 linebaugh with full power loads using a standard grip frame. I have and said ouch! I agree with Bill the FA grip frame is as good or better at handling recoil.

My hand tends to slide up the standard grip as I shoot.  Im more accurate with the bisley, and I dont notice as much recoil with the full power loads.

Never gave the Bisleys a second look until the stainless ones became available. Wired since I was never big on stainless either.  However...since then the Bisleys outnumber the plow handles.  12 or 13 of those Bisleys here now.  I will say they're definetly a love it or hate it thing.

My hands are average I guess. After many years of standard grips I tried a pair of Bisley's for CAS and now am a believer. :)

Standard SAA, as in Ruger New Vaquero

I did the buy/try thing with a Bisley Vaquero once......... NOT ! (for me)

I prefer the standard's design recoil-reduction feature of rolling up in the hand under recoil while pivoting around the third finger and placing the tip of the fallen hammer right under my thumb for the next cocking stroke.  Fast.

I definitely prefer the Bisley grip in the heavier recoiling guns.
