New Member Apology for Wrong Posts
« on: July 23, 2009, 09:09:30 AM »
I'm sorry for the off topic posts I have added at the BP forum. I feel like an idiot because it never occured to me that my postings were not in keeping with the focus of this forum. You guys have a good thing going and I wish you the best. Hoping sometime August to pick up the SuperX Siege cannon from Brooks. If I do, I'll be back with my questions and stories that DO pertain. Until then, be careful and I'll see you all here again soon.

Interesting skip77. I could be mistaken but you'll find we're black powder and not carbide and not just any miniature cannon. You'll probably still get some responses on this B-P forum :-\

We have people here who are exceptional in producing videos and are always willing to help anyone and everyone.  I could never get the hang of it.

Maybe your next geat venture will involve smelly smoke with one of the sponsors' inexpensive miniature BP cannons.  Buying tubes and having a family woodworking project is always nice.

Good luck!

Nice videos.  However, they are not blackpowder which is what this forum is about.

We all make mistakes here (some of us anyway) and The Great Oz tactfully corrects us (some of us anyway).  It's our learning process (some of us anyway); so don't disappear until you get your BP smoke stick. Just read some posts and books with BP cannons and mortars in them and play, "Stump the Experts" with your own posts as we do here (some of us anyway).  With you just starting out, there will be some  easy questions to answer that will make us feel like experts (some of us anyway).

In no time at all, you will become daft enough to break away from the miniatures and herniate yourself by building a big one. Then you'll also own a traction board as I do.

Although our focus is BP Cannons and mortar, carbide cannons, toy cannons and signal guns have always been included on this board, we have even been directed to include punt guns on our forum.  Dig deep enough you will find a long discussion on building one.

Skip you should not go away and wait for your gun. You should be jumping in and asking questions about how to get ready for your new gun.

You already show some signs of mild addiction to this hobby.  You have you first cannon and the paint is barely dry on it and you already have your second gun on order.    Now when that gun arrives if you are already thinking your next one, well good, that means you are hook.

So just hang in here, things will just fine

To the Board:  several weeks ago, 'Skip',  E-mailed asking about ordering a barrel for his daughter's B-day. He mentioned black powder as well as 'carbide'.

Our barrel sales were beyond what we expected for this Holiday, and we are still building to restock. Switching gears is counter-productive (as much as I like to say yes).

So...I asked jb to tell Skip that we couldn't produce for his daughter's Birthday on July 24th, but,.......go to GBO (link) where other fine Sponsers surely could, and that he would find GBO members, the most 'safety conscience, knowledgable and friendly group of people imagined'.

JB and I have sent this message many, many times, attracting many readers to this forum.  (Backyard Cannon Fun looking like it could hit 25,000 viewers.)

All of us have "good questions, misdirected questions," and Skip: we are all still learning.
Hang in here, I want you to be the safest of cannoneers with your Super X  when you get it! (I'll be talking with you soon).  I already know you will be able to provide us with some outstanding smoke and fire videos!

I love this place for the safety, knowledge and friendships, for JB and myself, sure! But also for the new people that we send here every week, knowing they can get the info they need to be safe and enjoy their Black Powder Mortar and Cannon.

Thanks to all for the great responses. Did not expect that etc but I will certainly keep an eye in here and make myself noticed, I'm sure, while waiting for my SuperX... that thing will be awesome! I have not placed that order yet but I will. I have looked at a lot of miniature cannons and sent emails to several makers. Right now, I am a Brooks man because I think their quality is impeccable and because I appreciate the way Michael and JB have taken time for me. I understand that is part of good business, otherwise, sales would slump for sure. But like any prospective customer, I appreciate them taking time to answer a fair few questions from me with no guarantee of an order. Yeah, that Super X is in my future and I look forward to it very much.

No hard feeling here, hope my apology message did not convey such. I just want to get on track in the forum without causing more vibrations or work for DD. I'll be around and you can count on it. I have a nice block of weathered wood that I want to cut into a sled for the Super X... it's going to be a great project! More later and thanks again to all.
