45-70Govt & 450 Marlin
« on: January 06, 2012, 07:00:41 PM »
Couldn't find the correct board to discuss this but I have always been curious about whether a 45-70Govt round will chamber and fire in a 450 Marlin?

I know I read something along these lines quite some time ago in a Guns & Ammo article about the Marlin Guide Gun.  Am I mixing up the calibers?  If so which are the correct calibers 45-70Govt & ?????.  Thanks, and if by any chance anyone knows about which issue this article was in, or the title of the article, I would really appreciate it if you could provide a link or any information.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

"The belt has been modified to prevent it from chambering in smaller-bore 7mm Magnum or .338 Magnum rifles.[6] The .45-70 and .450 Marlin cannot be cross-chambered, but rifles chambered for the .458x2 can be modified to fire the .450 Marlin.[7]"
