... for deer season.
williams wgrs threaded hole (peep will stay in my gun box), set one full imaginary mark south of the last actual mark; remington 300-grain factory ammo cutting a 1.25-inch cloverleaf at point of aim, 70 yards in the woods, factory front sight.
i'm thinking it will do.

you bet it'll do!!!!!!!!
300gr rem sjhp are made for the 45/70 and whitetail hunt'n!!!!!!
i handload mine with 38gr imr-4227 @1930fps its a fine shoot'n machine
enjoy and good hunt'n!!!!!

If you get a shot this coming season......and I hope you will.....It'll take him down. I took my buck last season with 325 gr. Hornady LeverEvolutions at 2050 fps (according to Hornady) out of my Handi. Bang Flop. Your .45-70 will work well. Enjoy. Good hunting.

i may try the the hornady lever rounds just for fun. love the handis. may have to snatch up a .30-30, too. i've had a bunch of handis over the years. thinkin' the .45-70 and .30-30 are my favorites ...
