Has anyone seen this kind of quick detach scope mounting system...

I saw it, but can't recall where. Picture a single piece ring set. But rather than bolted to the scope base in two places, it pivots in the middle of the base and the entire scope and one piece ring set are turned 90 degrees to remove the scope. So when the scope and one piece ring set are removed the scope base has a square swivel in the middle of the base. Put the scope/rings unit back on by orienting them across the barrel length, insert into swivel, turn scope and ring set 90 degrees and it locks. I think I saw it on a military rifle, just wondering how it would do for a H&R that has open sights and a scope, for a quick change. My description is from what I thought I saw...can't believe I did not save the webpage.

The isea is not to switch rifles, just on and off the same rifle.

I stay away from those, but if you are going from iron sights right back to the scope, it might work OK - as long as you do not change loads. Do not plan on switching from 1 rifle to another unless you are prepared to re-zero each time you switch.

I have yet to see an inexpensive QD system work on any rifle.  The aimpoint QD torque mount works the best for the money.  After that your going to be looking at systems from Badger ordinance, Nightforce... ect that will run several hundred dollars.  Most of these systems only work with a picatinny rail system. 

Other than that you will have a QD system that will take a scope off quickly but will still have to be re-zeored when you install it again.

LaRue Tactical makes quick release mounts for Picatinny rails that are the gold standard in return to zero. But the mounts and rings cost more than a Handi.

many years ago, B&L had a fixed riticule scope that attached to a base that had the windage and elevation adjustments in them. With bases on different rifles, the scope could be switched from rifle to rifle without a re-zero since the adjustments were in the base.

Now that's innovation for the shooter, not for the scope manufacturers! Something good for the average folk. Sounds brilliant. Whatever happened to it?

This is getting really close to what I saw...maybe this is the economical alternative here. For $35 it would be worth try. Thanks for digging this up. I am thinking it would be a good alternative for a H&R that has open sights like the 22 Hornet, 30-30, 45-70. A 4x or other simple short scope, maybe a red dot, small enough and light enough to put in your jacket pocket when you take it off.

I think that 35 dollor is for one ring. Probably need an outher to mount scope, so 70 dollors at least for set
