i got a sweet deal on a pardner today
« on: July 09, 2009, 10:59:45 AM »
i was at the local sporting goods store today and saw a very nice looking 12 gauge pardner, the price was $99
i took a closer look, its a case hardened colored sb1 reciever, NL ( 1997 production year ) with pallet wood stocks of a real light color,  with a schnable forend.
27 1/2 inch barrel, 3" chamber and a modified choke.. and best of all, its like new in box condition for $99 bucks
the guy at the counter said "we sold that gun new, to the guy who traded it in a while ago" ..
the gun looks like its hardly been shot, so i bought it right then and there with a few boxes of shells too
so that makes it my 10th NEF and my 2nd 12 gauge. when i got it home, its nearly a twin to my 20gauge pardner..
today is a good day

i took the pardner apart today, gave it a good cleaning and oiling, looked it over.  i just cant see why someone would trade in this gun, if it shoots as good as it looks, you couldnt ask for better.  i need to get out the range and pattern it , see just how it shoots.
where i hunt for small game, i have to shoot steel shot. so i picked up a box of steel #6. i really hope it patterns descent

Glad to hear you are happy with the $99 price tag, in my part of the country a $99 NEF/H&R 12 or 20ga would rot in the racks before it ever sold for $99, typical used shop prices for such are $60-$70 in ANY cond. including NIB.
Great guns though, I still hunt with them often.

with a 150 miles of my house, NIB NEF's or H&R's sell for$239 to $339 depending on offering.
used they sell for $200 to $125 on average. $99 for a like NIB 12 gauge is a good deal.
i live in  near the saginaw bay ( between the thumb and finger ) in lower pennisula of michigan
i have my eye on another handi at $149 used, i think that its a good deal too and will likely pick it up before its gone

honestly, thats what they go for around me.
if i could pay $60 - $70 for them, i'd buy 2 or 3 at  time and own alot more of 'em
just last saturday, i looked at a .410 pardner NIB for $189.. i thought " thats not bad" ( price wise ) " but i dont need a .410

I have to go with Scibaer on this one also and say he got a heck of a deal.

Although thay are not as high at shops around here, as some of the prices you stated, they are still a lot more than the $99 for a like new, and that is if you can find one on the rack used as they don't hang around long to collect dust.

Good find!
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

Here in Arizona, those are $90-$100 used. But I saw a very nice .410 Topper Jr. last week for $60 "out the door"...wow, it was nice!  Like 99% nice.  Serial number was traced to 1973.  I wanted it bad but my next door neighbor had mentioned that he wanted a .410, so I came home and told him about it.  Next day he was the new owner.  Now, am I a good neighbor or what?  (LOL)
