Eaton's of Canada shotgun

 I have this shotgun I picked from an old friend of mine and I'm looking for some info on it.  The barrel has markings that say Eaton's of Canada, Truline model 400.  The barrel was made in the USA.  The action release is a push button in front of the trigger gaurd.  The action resembles a Remington but I'm not sure if they made them.  Can't seem to find anything on them.  Took it to a gun show last fall and asked 3 knowledgable guys about it and got 3 different answers.  It has a 2 3/4 in. full choke.
 The old guy I bought it from told me he bought it new and has never fired it.  After looking at it I would have to believe him as it is in almost as new condition.  I have not fired it either althought I would like too.  It is a nice handling and very light. 
 Any thoughts or ideas about this shotgun would be appreciated.

Pictures would help. Sounds much like a shotgun CIL used to import once upon a time.

  I'll try and get a couple of pics with my sons help. One thing I over looked, the butt plate has the name Hawthorne on it.  Did a search on that and found out it may be made by Savage.  Have to do a little more checking.

It has been a long time since Eaton's department stores were open for business in Canada and even longer since they sold firearms.

Hang onto that shotgun, it may not be worth a lot (i'm certainly no expert) but historically it is interesting.
The Dominion Cartridge Company (later owned by CIL) made shotshells for Eaton's stamped "EATONNIA", it may be possible that they also made shotguns.
Cooey made some rifles for Eaton's also named Eatonia, its possible that they made your gun.
