Don't hold me to this, but don't they carry the Sabre line of JD.  Just a "lower" version with less expensive parts and more plastic?
I'd spend the few $$ more and get a JD with 100% JD parts and the pride of driving a JD thru and thru.

JD in name only really. All riding mowers these days are made by vacuum cleaner maker Electrolux. Even their small tractors are made in Japan and badged as JDs.

It's my understanding that John Deere DID build them.....for a really good low ball price, and Deere feels they will make their money, on service and parts later.

well this i do know, i have a john deere 2400 series tractor. bigger then a lawn mower. 3 cylinder diesel motor.
its built by Yanmar, and when i get parts for it they are Sun-Su or Yanmar parts.
i was told by a service tech that JD tractors, lawn and garden tractors are built over seas by japanese companies

It's true that a lot of deere small tractors are built in Japan, but that is changing some.  Deere bought a big plant in China, so you know what they are up to!  Many of the Deere parts already come from China, and that includes for their big tractors and combines.

As Deere buys less Yanmars, other brand names are picking them up, branded to their name...

My JD790 is a Yanmar.

Look under the hood and under the seat. Somewhere on there you'll find the name of the real manufacturer. I'm betting it's Electrolux so far as I know they own all the factories making riding mowers these days.

Waste of time they dont have a freaking clue! and whats more they dont care! i bought one a few months ago, before i knew it they had pushed it up on my trailer, so i took it home.

Got home and the battery was dead as a door nail! hauled it back and they changed the battery and informed me that they had not started it to put it on the trailer because they did not have Gasoline on the premises(co policy) not because they knew the battery was dead.

Long story short go to JD for the same mower and same price! there are better models there also I paid 2000.00 for mine and you can get that model for the same price at JD or pay 3000 and get a better one !

As far as manufacturer goes GB is right all of them are made by the same folk now even the Kubota hydro(L2800) I'm so proud of is made by someone other than  Kubota.

My new rule..........dont buy a darned thing from home depot unless you need it bad and cant find it somewhere else

I still think JD makes the Sabre, but if someone proves me wrong, i'll admit it here.
