NIB 2004 FA M97 45 Colt

Hi everyone,

Please be patient with me as I am a new member and my learning curve can sometimes be a bit sloooow!

I am not a photographer as you can see from the below posted photos  :-\!

Anyway, I did have a question on the chamber lock that comes with the pistol (note the exposed screw tip in the photo). Is this normal? Looks like it could damage the firing pin area thingie??  I've never used the chamber lock personally, but now want to with grandkids running around.

As for the gun...Purchased new in 2004, 4 1/4 inch barrel, 45 colt, rosewood laminated grips, fixed sights. At the time, the gun was part of the FA inventory and ready to go. So I didn't have to wait long to receive it. It was exactly what I had wanted, except at the time I was leaning towards the same speced gun in 357.

I still can't see my own pictures...am I doing something wrong...just simple JPEG images???? I feel so stupid.

The images are there. I see them. I don't have an answer for your question tho. I seem to recall some sort of locking device that was inserted thru the barrel and locked in place that froze cylinder in place with at least some of the FA guns that have come my way but I never use such so have paid them little attention.

Thank's GB. That's all I need to know re: pictures. Thought I was doing something wrong as computers and gadgets and I just don't get along much. As far as the chamber lock...will just compare it with one at my local gun shop or contact FA customer service. Thanks again. :)

I never received any locks with any of my FA guns. Does FA still deliver guns with those locks included?

Hello Humbo,
I'm pretty sure they still do. Maybe the lock is required only in certain states. I reside in Washington State. I like the lock, it is as well made as the gun itself, while other manufacturers ship there guns with cheap cable locks imported from China, the FA lock seems thoughtfully designed and crafted (probably US made). Also, it's a great device because it leaves the decision of how and when to lock the gun with the owner (as it should be) not with some government bueaucrat. I really dislike the built-in child/adult/fool un-safety locks on some guns. One reason I will not own a newer S&W...the key hole on the side plate is soooo ugly (it's been called certain things I cannot repeat here...the Hillary h.....). Also, have heard at least one account of a Smith and Wesson safety lock causing realibilty issues with at least one target shooter. Not sure on the details of the malfunction though.

Hi Ken,
Do you know FA's reasoning for not including the locks anymore? Please tell me they are not planning an internal safety lock. Also, does this mean I now have a collector's item? :)
