Higgins Cannon
« on: July 31, 2009, 12:03:25 PM »

No it is not an obscure cannon designers masterpiece.  I am looking for information on the cannon that Higgins would fire on Magnum PI.  I have not been able to find any images of it or info. I would like to know size and type as well as bore if anyone knows. I know this sounds weird but I remember as a kid watching the show and was always interested in the cannon. I would like info so that I can get a reproduction full or scaled down. Thanks

You know I seem to remember him firing a cannon, but the shot was such you really couldn't tell
what it was, have you done a search on Magnum P.I. for photo's etc? you may luck out ......
Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

He fired Strong breechloading salute cannon, probably a No. 3 size chamber and cartridge.

The barrel and breech are about 30 inches long overall.

Looks expensive out of production and rare. Is the one pictured in your collection or pics you found online. You are pretty in tune to the cannon market(to say the least). How often do these come on the market.

cannonmn,

Is this the same one that Hyland Granby has had for a while. They both have a lot of the same age marks. I believe it is. It's a shame they removed that nice patina.  :(
