Browning BLR dating
« on: September 29, 2003, 04:00:18 PM »
I recently purchased a .243 Browning BLR.  I have the serial number etc.
I know it was made in Japan and I have been to the Browning website but I still can't figure out how to read my serial number and date my rifle.  I have 5 numbers followed by K57.  Were BLR's being made in 1957?

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

According to Browning web site, the BLR was made in Belgium from 1969 to 1972 and in Japan from 1973 to present. K was the product code for the BLR. As yours is made in Japan, the 57 certainly mean 75. For a reason I ignore, they sometime reverse the two digit representing the year of manufacture.
Best regards,
