New 30 Caliber Case Capacities
« on: August 14, 2009, 03:03:49 PM »
I was wondering how the case capacities of the new 308 Marlin Express, the  30 TC and the 307 Win. compared to the 30-30, 30-06 and 308 win. The old NRA book of handloading lists the 30-30 at 45 grains of water, the 308 around 58 and the 30-06 at 69. These figures were with the case full to the mouth with water.

QuickLOAD lists the follow capacities in grains of water:
308MX:    51.00
30TC:       54.00
307 Win:  54.00
30-30:      44.00-45.00 (depends whether using CIP or SAAMI pressure limits, which has no impact on capacity, so I can't explain the difference)
30-06:      68.20
308:         56.00
