We have a feeder on our deck and enjoy them immensely.  Have had up to 3 at one time "plugged in".  We are often out there reading, relaxing, etc. within a few feet of the feeder and they don't seem to mind us at all.  They are fascinating and beautiful.
Here is a good site with migration maps, etc....

Same as Cement Man here. We are in the same state but with myself being a good 3 Hr south of him.

They can seem to be interested in what you are about in the Squirrel woods as they may hover just a couple feet in front of you. Back home and on the deck, they will contour your head n shoulders if you are standing near the feeders. Have never had one lite on me though.

My daughter has two outfits that are exactly the same, we put a small feeder on a wooden human cut out with one outfit on it and after 2 months, my daughter can put on the same outfit and hold the feeder and the humming birds will land on it and ocassionally on her, talk about a birds eye view......

We have quite a few here although it is high, dry, and hot. They show up the last of March, early April and stay until the last of September. I often wonder what they feed upon in the early spring when there are no flowers and later when it is dry and still no flowers. Doesn't seem to make a difference though. Hang out a feeder and they are coming to it the day you hang it out. We keep a feeder that holds a quart out and fill it every 2 1/2 days. The Rufus' will be here in a week or so and then we'll put out another feeder just to cut down on the fights for the feeder.

That is eye popping! I love hummingbirds. They are so fascinating and delightful. Among the most amazingly beautiful creatures. I have never seen one of their nests, or even a picture of their nest until today. Thanks!!!

I can't remember what time of year but Rockport, TX has a Hummingbird festival
it is during their migration either come or going. The little birds are every where
almost every house has 2-3 feeders. I have been fishing in the bays 1/2 mile
from land and have them buzz the boat, some times land on it. Must be around this time of year, cause i always like to fish for redfish there this time of year.

Read a report years ago that said in some cases, the Humming bird would migrate south on the back of a Canada goose!

I personally know of one case where a local hunter reported seeing this while hunting the Rend lake area in southern IL with the humming bird flying off of a downed goose.

Several years ago while prospecting and looking for gem quality rocks in Western New Mexico we decided to make a side trip up to Mogollon, NM (North east of Glenwood) to check out an Elk hunting location.  The village is located on the top of a Mountain; it is definitely off the beaten path.  During the twisting-turning ride up the mountain it started raining, when we reached the top it was coming down in sheets.  There was a small restaurant/bar with a patio where we grabbed a cup of coffee, as we sat on the patio we noticed the hummingbirds everywhere, there were 15-20 feeders hanging around the edge, each was covered with birds.  I learned this is a major migration route and breeding area for them, there were (if I remember correctly) 12-15 different species ranging in size from about an inch long to about six inches long, and as many different colors as there were birds.  It was truly a beautiful site.

Have them here in NC too.  Love to watch them at the feeder, They are an amazing little creatures.   Butterflies and bees have to land to feed, hummingbirds 'refuel' in flight.  :D

it is surprising how aggressive they are with each other.  at one point last year, before the hurricane, we had 11.  there was one red-throated one in particular that would fight the others off the feeders.

it's hilarious to listen to them colliding with each other, intentionally ramming each other to jockey for places on the feeder

that and they will buzz around us in the yard or carport if the feeder is empty....

We have a feeder hung at our gun club. There are 2 H-birds that seem to come there just to wait for the other. And when they get together, man....they fight 'n roll 'n tumble!!!! One (and I can't tell 'em apart) will chase the other away for a time, and then sit on a phone wire. Then when the other comes back, they will go at it again!!

We sit on the porch and these 2 will fly in and "hum" right in front of us......like we are not even there!!

Amazing little things.

I have wooden cloaths pins on my feeder. They are clamped on the foot bar up against the flat side of where the bottom snaps together. They are leaned out away from the feeder with another pin is clamped to the top of each one of those pins. They are like an open angle L. They form guards that the birds can sit under and the agressive birds can't sweep the others off as easily in a fly by and more will land at one time. Had 8 birds lite at one time for a secound on a day it was raining and others wern't filling thier feeders. Mine are on my outside window faceing and I can reach them from in the house. Don't leave your windows up. If the birds get in the house they can't figure to get back out and will fly and bounce against the ceiling until exhausted. Have to hand catch them and release them back out. They still fight like crazy with the guards. They hit my windows and each other often.

Actually I do see humming birds every day pretty much at least during the warm season before they head still further south. If you don't then you must not spent much time outside or don't live in the US.

They're spoiled here at my house in SE Oklahoma.     At times we have up to 4 feeders on the front porch, with as many as 30 hummingbirds at a time.   Makes our sugar bill go way up too.
Enjoy your rights to keep and bear arms.

I the summer here in MN if you put out a feeder with some sugar water, they will appear out of no where.
