What red dot do you have on your hunting handgun?

I was thinking of getting an aimpoint 2X
The 2X would give me a little more range yet still have a wide field of view.

I have the Bushnell Trophy red dot on one of three deer class handguns.

This one is the red/green model and I do not have any issues with it. It does have four diff recticle choices but I consider them a gimmick of sorts as the crosshair is kind of thick & two more tend to hide the target.
This leaves me with the 3moa dot which I use exclusively. This one cost around $100 and they did a good job on creating a clear dot that works well in bright light even at a lower rheostat setting. They have a higher price model with the same label $120 in red only that features an auto shut off when the gun is tilted sideways but I passed on this one as it is something that Could go wrong on those cold mornings and at the wrong time. My Batt life has been very good as the original is still in it after around 10 months now. This includes some initial testing where I turned that dot on for 10min every single day for the first month.
The Bushnell Trophy gets placed on some heavy kickers for sure and the bad reviews (about 10%) claim that the green quit working or that the p.o.i changes when the recticle is changed. I have not had any issues as said though.

You can jump up in price and spend roughly $135 for an Ultra dot or around $185 for an Ultra dot four dot and I could not find any bad reviews at all about them.

You can spend more yet for your aimpoint. I would consider it a quality sight that you would be comforatable with right out of the box as the reviews are good.

I have Burris Fastfire and Dr.Optik tubeless red dots and love them. I have the hoods attached to my holster with a short leather thong so that it pops the hood when I draw the pistol. There is nothing to turn on or adjust, unlimited eye relief and field of view, weighs only one ounce, doesn't interfere with quick point shooting, in fact it pretty much eliminates all the downsides of the conventional red dots and scopes. If that design were not available I'd still be shooting iron sights.

i dont like optics on a handgun and only have a couple and they have scopes on them but i have 3 comp2 aimpoints on ar15s and there wonderful sights and brutely strong. One big advantage to the comp series of aimpoints is batter life. the comp2 will last a year left on with a batter and the comp3 and comp 4 will last for over 5 years left on. I dont like a conventional dot sight because a guy tends to forget and leave them on and when you go to use them the battery is dead or you wait to turn them on when hunting and forget. My aimpoints are left on all the time and every new years day i change the batterys along with the smoke detectors. Another cool thing is when the battery starts to go bad it does it slowly and you can tell by having to turn up the reostat. they dont just quit working. I saw a show on the military channel where so reps from aimpoint were shooting ars with them and they would stand in a parking lot about 10 yards apart and shoot a few rounds then take them off and actually skip them across the payment to each other and put them back on guns and they would not only work but they held zero. Now thats tough!!

SIMMONS 851234 30mm RED DOT MULTI RETICLE SCOPE. If the 4 moa red dot, or 8 moa red dot is a bother, there is the cross hair and diamond to give you an option. I have found this to be a cheap red dot scope that works on my .357 magnum and .44 magnum revolvers. As an added bonus, it has done well on my Marlin 1894 and 1894C in the same calibers.

I have 2 Aimpoints, and they are the best red dot sight available, in my opinion.  One is on a long barrel Smith #29, the other on a Smith #41 target auto.  I dont have the 2x version, but I bet it would work fine.  I also have a Burris Fastfire 2 mounted on a 45 acp, and an Ultradot from the 1980's, mounted on a 44 mag Redhawk, and still going fine.  I will say I am impressed with the size of the Burris Fastfire 2.  Small enough to mount in the rear sight grove on the slide of a 45 pistol, it has proven reliable for about 600 rounds and counting.  Have another on a AR-15 with several thousand rounds, also reliable.

Trijicon Reflex II. No batteries, tough as nails. Nice crystal clear aiming triangle instead of a round dot. The top of the triangle gives a very precise aiming point. W&E adjustable with a coin or cartridge rim.

I've had mine for nine years now, it's been on many different guns, I know I can count on it not to fail in any way.

1 - Sort-of-generic Burris FastFire (NcStar)- Not as good as a real Burris but it works, and was cheap

2 - CenterPoint 1" tube red/green dot 1X - Recently got it from WalMart - Have not really put it through the wringer yet but so far seems OK

3 - BSA red dot - No longer have it - Threw it out - Would not use another one even if it was free

Would I like to have better ones, YES!... but that's going to have to wait a while
